Dr. Lawrence Stone, co-founder of Atlanta Perinatal Consultants, completed his undergraduate studies at Indiana University where he later obtained his medical degree. He was staff associate at the National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases while serving as Lieutenant Commander with the United States Public Health Service. He completed residency training at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital in Diagnostic Radiology and was certified by the American Board of Radiology in 1974. He held academic appointments at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School and Emory University School of Medicine before joining Northside Hospital. He is a member of several medical organizations including the Atlanta Ultrasound Society of which he is founder and past president, and he was past president of the Atlanta Radiological Society. He was an early member of the American Institute for Ultrasound in Medicine and the International Fetal Doppler Society. He served as Chief of the Medical Staff of Northside Hospital from 1990 – 1992, and currently teaches obstetrical ultrasound through the Department of Radiology at Emory University School of Medicine. He has received the National Foundation Merit Award for birth defect studies and is published in his areas of interest, including fetal and obstetrical diagnosis and diagnostic ultrasonography. |
